- provides adults with developmental disabilities a full range of individual
supports to assist them in becoming valued members of their community.These
services are available to individuals selected by the Department of Mental
Retardation and are available to others on a private basis. Continuing Education - provides education and recreational programs for adults and family members at various locations through out the Cape. Advocacy - provides advocacy for the rights of the developmentally disabled and their families Family Education - provides families with the helpful information through a variety of seminars and programs. Specialized Services - designed with individuals and families to meet specific needs that are not met through the existing services of the Arc or other agencies. Social Programs - The Sandpipers and Cape Cod Capers Clubs (for adults) provide a variety of activities each month at different locations around the Cape. Employment - jobs are provided at standard wages through contracts with local companies. Support Groups - The Arc of Cape Cod sponsors: • The P.D.D. Support Group - for families with a family member with pervasive developmental disabilities • The Grandparents As Parents Support Group - for grand-parents raising their grand-children. • Lorraine O'Neill Memorial Scholarship - awarded annually to a Barnstable County resident pursuing studies toward a degree and career focused on helping people with developmental disabilities. |
